Dávid Baffy (1980)
He graduated from the painting studio of professor Ivan Csudai at VSVU between the years 2005-2009 and today this generation is considered to be a major force amongst contemporary young painters.
In his practice David Baffi is constantly dealing with abstraction, exploring its boundaries and working towards a personal definition. The framework for this exploration is material structure, the properties of colour and the tactility of light when applied to the language of painting. Every gesture is a translation based on an analysis of painting. Formally the paintings refer to the modernist tradition of gestural painting ; spontaneous and irrational expressions, (on closer inspection however we see its essential depth).
