Kristína Bukovčáková has been continuously developing an artistic program dedicated to the environmental topics. While until 2018 her work was characterized by freshness, spontaneity and a positive appeal, by a gradual reassessment of the ralationship between man and nature, from the poetic representations from years 2018 – 2020, the viewer is now offered only a catastrophic scenario of the world image, responding to the impact of ecological, economic and political human interventions.
Due to the complete resignation of environmental consequences (to a large extent also the current crisis), she reassesses her work once again in 2020, and this time enriches it with lyrical introverted reflection. The image becomes a dialogue between the unfavorable outer world and the artist’s inner world itself. She almost completely leaves out the figures from the paintings, the human is depicted only tentatively and anonymously, she no longer dreams of a better world but offers a view of the world through his own experience, in which what is seen and experienced, becomes a consensus.
The resulting image forms a homogenous whole, an organic structure that takes on a life of its own, the reflection of this era from the perspective of the soul of an individual. The individual fragments are fragments of the author’s world, which she perceives on a daily basis – landscapes, architecture, objects, organic and inorganic structures. The choice is thoughtful and at the same time intuitive. The distinctive and mysterious color palette combined with the sharp demarcation creates a dreamy allegorical world that offers the viewer a refuge from our uncertain future.
Kristina Bukovčáková managed to breathe life into the created scene with a view that is not based on precalculated concepts, but on an authentic personal experience of the problems of this time and the planet in the most global sense. The artworks as a whole radiates mystery and concern, something the viewer only senses when looking at her works, but does not admit that he is a part of it. She creates her own Poetic aesthetics consisting of collages of perceived fragments. The artist does not provide the viewer with instant solutions to problems, but offers an image of nature and the world that is adapted to this age and people and can continue to survive.
